Bear Hanna († 2018)
loved to relax in the grass
Hanna came to us at the BEAR SANCTUARY Müritz from the animal park in Wolgast on March 31st, 2014. She was a very special bear with her own unique personality. In Wolgast she had been identified as a male and lived as Hannes. During her initial examination by the vets of the IZW in Berlin, it became apparent that Hannes was in fact very much a she-bear. From then on, she became Hanna.
Hanna loved to sit down at the edge of the forest and enjoy the sun.
She was a typical loner, never seeking the company of her own kind. When the weather allowed, she loved lying in the meadow just enjoying the sun. She had great fun busying herself for hours at a time with a cardboard box filled with feed. At the same time she was also something of a gourmet, her favourite delicacies being chicken, sausages and cows-hearts. She ate fruit and vegetables only sparingly, and then only particular types such as cherries and avocados.
In 2018 Hanna suffered a herniated disc and unfortunately had to be put down.
